Fearless Rick's College Football Week 10 Picks - Late Games

5:00 pm LSU (-7, 48) at Alabama - Nobody is getting through the SEC without a loss, that's already a fact. Making it to the championship game with less than two is now the story. LSU has emerged as the class of the conference, though the team may be without Ryan Perrilloux and Derrick Odom for this game as the pair were involved in an altercation at a local bar last Friday. The Tigers have had a week off to prepare, after topping Auburn late, 30-24, in a stunning finish. Coach Les Myles may have to pull even more rabbits out of his hat as 6-2 Alabama continues to improve, thumping Tennessee at home on Oct. 20 by an outlandish 41-17 score. The Tide players have had an extra week to prepare as well. The winner of this game will take the lead in the SEC West, and a possible BCS berth.

In a season that's been as easy to predict as the flight of a honey bee, Alabama's been one of the more unconventional teams in the nation. At home, with a lot riding on this game, look for the Tide to roll in with a win.

Prediction: Crimson Tide 31 Tigers 28

6:30 pm Missouri (-3 1/2, 57) at Colorado - The Mizzou continue to put up points at a better-than 40 ppg clip, but the Buffs are no pushovers, especially at home, where they beat Oklahoma and lost to Kansas by just five points. The main problem for Colorado is if they get behind, they simply don't have the kind of offense to bring them back. Outside of their 41-31 loss at Oklahoma, Missouri has beaten their divisional opponents by a combined 80 points in 3 games. They could put up another whopper of a score here.

Prediction: Tigers 42 Buffaloes 21

6:40 pm Arizona St. at Oregon (-7 , 61) - This is the biggest game of the weekend, with the winner looking squarely at the PAC-10 championship and a possible berth in the national championship game. Oregon's only stumble is a 31-24 home loss to Cal, while the Sun Devils remain unbeaten at 8-0. The teams are very evenly matched. Oregon is third in the nation in scoring at 43.8 ppg, while Arizona State is not far behind at 36.9. Defensively, the Sun Devils have the edge, allowing only 15.6 ppg, to Oregon's 21.9. Admittedly, the Sun Devils can put the stop on just about anybody. while the Ducks have allowed 27 or more points on four different occasions. Arizona State gave up 32 in their win over Oregon State, and have allowed 20 points to each of their last three opponents.

If anyone can score more than 4 TDs on the Sun Devils, it would be the Ducks, though they may also allow just that many or more. Overtime being a distinct possibility here, the Sun Devils are the pick.

Prediction: Sun Devils 34 Ducks 31

7:15 Rutgers at Connecticut (-2 1/2, 46) - The surprise of the nation is the University of Connecticut Huskies, still perched atop the Big East after knocking off South Florida last week. The Huskies are sky high and battle-tested, plus they get the Scarlet Knights at home, another plus. It's actually surprising to see UConn favored here, though Rutgers does have three losses. What will make the difference here is defense. Rutgers is allowing an average of 26.8 ppg in conference, compared to 15.3 for UConn. With the offenses nearly equal, the big edge goes to the Huskies.

Prediction: Huskies 31 Scarlet Knights 17

8:00 pm Florida St. at Boston College (-6 1/2 , 44 1/2) - The 5-3 Seminoles are 2-3 in the conference and pretty much out of the conference championship picture, though a win over BC would be a huge boost. That happening is not likely, however, as the Eagles are winning their home conference games by an average of 15 points. BC still has to play at Maryland and Clemson before hosting Miami to close out the season, but they know that winning each of these games may result in a trip to the national championship game. Florida State has a good defense, but not nearly enough offense to keep pace with the soaring Eagles, who are clicking at 32 points per outing.

Prediction: Eagles 35 Seminoles 17
