3:30 pm Florida St. at Virginia Tech (-6 1/2, N/A) - After stunning Boston College on hostile turf, the Seminoles aren't about to back off in Blacksburg. The Hokies are still the team to beat in the ACC, though getting the win over Florida State is no easy task, especially with Bowden's squad inspired after that BC win. Statistics infer that this will be a very tight game. Florida State scores at 24.2 ppg and allows 18, while the Hokies put up 26 per game will giving up just 14.3, 4th best in the nation. Those numbers suggest a low-scoring contest, which really favors Florida State, since their offense has been revitalized by the return of Drew Weatherford at QB. Can the Seminoles knock off another ACC giant on the road. You bet they can, especially if they get a lead or are close heading into the 4th quarter. Mark another one down for the sunshine state.

Prediction: Seminoles 17 Hokies 13

3:30 pm Connecticut at Cincinnati (-5 1/2, N/A) - The Huskies continue to garner little respect, both in the polls and in the linesmakers minds. Consider what the 8-1 upstarts have done, though, and you'll begin to see why Big East football is once again some of the best being played in the entire nation. UConn has knocked off Louisville, South Florida and Rutgers on consecutive weekends, expanding the margin of victory with each win. They possess a very rugged offense, the 3rd-best scoring defense in the nation (13.7 ppg) and are on the cusp of reaching a BCS bowl bid.

Cincinnati is no slouch, either, at 6-2 overall, but only 1-2 in conference, though that one win was last week over South Florida, the only team to beat West Virginia this season. Cincy puts up lots of points - 37.7 per game - and only allows 17.9 per outing, but even at home, against the Huskies they should not be favored.

Prediction: Huskies 31 Bearcats 21

3:30 pm Auburn at Georgia (-1, N/A) - Looking for an upset? Look no further than this game. Wile Georgia sits atop the SEC East, the Auburn Tigers can play with anyone, and possibly have the toughest schedule in all of college football. At 6-3 the Tigers three losses - to South Florida, Mississippi State and at LSU - came by a total of 14 points, and the LSU loss came on the final play of the game. The Tigers also have a statistical advantage, allowing only 14.5 ppg (5th best nationally), while Georgia's defense allows 22.4. Offensively, Georgia has the edge, 31.4 to 25.5, which makes this game a toss-up. But, over the last 5 games, Auburn has only allowed 50 points and 30 of those were to LSU. So 4 teams have only scored 20 total, one of them being Arkansas, one of the most aggressive offenses in the conference, which only scored 7. Auburn's defense will carry the day here.

Prediction: Tigers 28 Bulldogs 17

3:30 pm Arizona St. (-7, N/A) at UCLA - Look for the Sun Devils to rebound off their first loss of the season - at Oregon last week - with a resounding triumph over the Bruins. UCLA plays well at home, but both their offense and defense is spotty and Arizona State should cruise here.

Prediction: Sun Devils 35 Bruins 13

7:45 pm Florida (-6 1/2, N/A) at South Carolina - The Gamecocks are in the throes of a wicked SEC losing streak, losing to Vandy, at Tennessee and at Arkansas. Now, they host the Gators, though they may have a real edge here, not the least of it being home field. The Gators, notably QB Tim Tebow, are a little dinged up and the Gamecocks are angry, plus SC coach Steve Spurrier always has a little extra motivation against his old team. Give the Gamecocks their due, though they're likely to lose by a field goal or less, just like last season.

Prediction: Gators 21 Gamecocks 20

8:00 pm Virginia at Miami (-3 1/2, N/A) - Virginia continues to win games by narrow margins, last week knocking off Wake Forest by a single point. Six of their seven wins have come by a total of 19 points, an average margin of victory of less than 3. That could change here, as the Cavaliers may find the going a little easier at Miami. The Hurricanes are in a down year, at 5-4, and the Cavaliers still have hopes of making the ACC title game. They should come away with a nifty win by a more comfortable margin here.

Prediction: Cavaliers 30 Hurricanes 17

8:00 pm Kansas (-6, N/A) at Oklahoma State - The Cowboys pushed the Longhorns to the limit last week, finally losing 38-35, but they are no match for the wide open offense of the Jayhawks, who put up 76 on Nebraska last week. Kansas is riding high, and their defense is also superb, allowing only 13.4 points per outing, 2nd best in the country. No contest. Kansas goes to 10-0.

Prediction: Jayhawks 45 Cowboys 31

8:00 pm Boston College (-6, N/A) at Maryland - BC suffered their first defeat of the season last week to Florida State, but they'd better not be licking their wounds for long because the Terrapins are as good as they come. Maryland is only 1-4 n the ACC, but they can come up with big efforts. They defeated Rutgers and Georgia tech on back-to-back weekends earlier, but have since lost three straight. A win here would salvage the season, and they are catching the Eagles at the right time.

Prediction: Terrapins 28 Eagles 27

8:00 pm USC (-4, N/A) at California - With John David Booty back at QB, the Trojans once again look like a really talented football team. Problem is that Cal actually is a really talented football team. There should be plenty of offense in this one, but being at Cal, with a chip on their shoulders, the Golden Bears may be too much for the Trojans to handle. Minor bowl for USC, while Cal gets a bit of revenge.

Prediction: Golden Bears 38 Trojans 31
