Sunday, Nov. 11
Atlanta at Carolina (-4, 36) 1:00 pm - 4-4 Carolina still has hopes of post-season glory, while the 2-6 Falcons are struggling through yet another losing year. Carolina won the first meeting between these two, 27-20, in Atlanta back in September, but that was prior to losing QB Jake Delhomme. David Carr will get the start, though he's only produced 2 TDs in the past two games (against Indy and Tennessee). It appears that Joey Harrington will start for Atlanta after guiding the Falcons to just their 2nd win of the season last week, 20-16 over the 49ers. With both teams struggling offensively, expect a low-scoring, close affair. Take the points.
Prediction: Panthers 17 Falcons 16
Buffalo (-3, 40 1/2) at Miami 1:00 pm - Buffalo has won three straight and can improve to 5-4 with a road win against the Dolphins. The way the Bills have been playing, especially on defense, there's little reason to suggest that Miami stands any chance here. JP Losman will likely get the nod at QB, though rookie Trent Edwards is available. The way both of these teams are going - in opposite directions - look for a potential rout by Buffalo.
Prediction: Bills 31 Dolphins 7
Cleveland at Pittsburgh (-9 1/2, 47 1/2) 1:00 pm - The surprising Browns are just a game back of the Steelers in the AFC North at 5-3, and can tie for the division lead with a win. Pittsburgh is coming off a 38-7 smashing of the Ravens on Monday night and has the luxury of a second straight home game, though the Browns are hot, having won three in a row. Pittsburgh won the first meeting, 34-7, but that was before Derek Anderson really got rolling as starting QB. The Browns arguably have more weapons than Pittsburgh, though the Steelers' defense is one of the best in the league and Cleveland's is pretty soft. Still, in a big game, look for Cleveland's defenders to stiffen and turn the tables on the Steelers.
Prediction: Browns 23 Steelers 20
Denver at Kansas City (off the board) 1:00 pm - No line due to the leg injury to Denver QB Jay Cutler, who is listed as day-to-day. With Javon Walker still out, and KC playing well, this one could be a one-sided affair. Will update when line is released.
Prediction: Chiefs 28 Broncos 10
Prediction: Titans 21 Jaguars 17
Minnesota at Green Bay (-6, 40 1/2) 1:00 pm - The Packers continue to roll along, their gaudy 7-1 record one of the NFL's biggest surprises of the season. Green Bay won the first meeting between these two, 23-16, at Minnesota, on 9/30, and the Vikes are seeking revenge and a second straight win after stunning San Diego 35-17 last week. This game boils down to which defense will be better able to contain two stars - Adrian Peterson for the Vikings and Brett Favre for the Packers. The nod goes to the Packers, who are allowing less than 100 yards rushing per outing.
Prediction: Packers 27 Vikings 17
Philadelphia at Washington (-3, 38) 1:00 pm - The Eagles looked like a team just going through the motions last week against Dallas, and some of the players may have thrown in the towel on the season already. At 3-5, Philly's in turmoil and has slim hopes of making the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Redskins gutted out an OT road win against the Jets and appear ready to do some damage up route 95 in Philly.
Prediction: Redskins 21 Eagles 13
St. Louis at New Orleans (-11 1/2, 46) 1:00 pm - The Rams are simply horrible, while the Saints have won 4 straight and are poised for a run at the top of the NFC South and a playoff placing. There is literally no good reason to take the 0-8 Rams, who have scored a league-low 99 points while allowing an NFC-worst 219. New Orleans put up a season-high 41 in last week's win over Jacksonville and appear to have the offense clicking once again.
Prediction: Saints 35 Rams 10
