Sunday, Nov. 18

N.Y. Giants (-3, 49) at Detroit 4:15 pm - Tough call here as both teams are 6-3 and in playoff contention. The Giants lost for the first time in nearly two months last week, at home to Dallas, and will be looking to regroup. Detroit won't be able to stop them consistently, but the Lions have a fairly explosive offense as well. This will be a shootout and possibly go to overtime, which favors the home team. The line is somewhat of a snub at the Lions, or could it be a sucker bet for the massive NY horde of bettors?

Prediction: Lions 34 Giants 31

Chicago at Seattle (-5 1/2, 37 1/2) 4:15 pm - This was moved from the 8:15 time slot to accommodate the Patriots and Bills, though this may actually be a more entertaining game. The Bears haven't totally given up on the season just yet and Seattle simply isn't that good and they tend to play to the level of their competition. Scoring will be at a premium and one team or the other could put up 4 or 5 field goals. In a close, defensive game, take the points and watch the Bears upset.

Prediction: Bears 20 Seahawks 16

St. Louis (-3, 39) at San Francisco 4:15 pm - Ugly, ugly, ugly, but the 49ers are horrible, especially on offense. Alex Smith? Forget him. The Rams get their second straight win.

Prediction: Rams 31 49ers 14

New England (-16, 46 1/2) at Buffalo 8:15 pm - This is a divisional rivalry and the rule of thumb is to take divisional home underdogs of 6 points or more, since they cover roughly 65% of the time. Buffalo certainly fits the mold and despite the obvious talents of the Patriots, the Bills will be undaunted. A big plus will be the vociferous Buffalo fans, who will be out in force. Buffalo is 5-4, and a win keeps them in the playoff hunt. Besides, two of their losses were by one point so they are capable of keeping things close. If there's any team capable of an upset, it's the Bills. While they may not win, you have to appreciate the potential to cover.

Prediction: Patriots 30 Bills 24

Monday, Nov. 19

Tennessee at Denver (-2, 38) 8:30 pm - Denver is not the tough place to play that it used to be and a large part of that is because of the Broncos' sputtering offense. In four home games this season, the Broncos have scored 20, 14, 3 and 13, and they've lost 3 of those. Tennessee will accommodate with a stingy defense and timely scoring for a Monday night treat.

Prediction: Titans 23 Broncos 10
