Thursday, Nov. 22

Green Bay (-3 1/2, 47) at Detroit 12:30 pm - A short work week for both teams, though Green Bay had somewhat of a breeze in their 31-17 win over Carolina. Detroit's receivers are fairly banged up and they will be facing one of the best (#4) defenses in the league. The Lions, however, have shown quite a bit of resolve and can win this important home game.

Prediction: Lions 31 Packers 30

N.Y. Jets at Dallas (-14, 47) 4:15 pm - After the Jets pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the season - knocking off Pittsburgh, 19-16, most would expect then to be satisfied and revert to the form they've displayed most of the season. There is, however, one major change. Kellen Clemens, who engineered the Jets' last win, will stay as starting QB over Chad Pennington. That's a huge change and the Jets - a playoff team just last year - will come loaded for bear... or turkey. If they can keep the ball out of Terrell Owens' hands, they're good enough to cover and maybe win.

Prediction: Cowboys 27 Jets 21

Indianapolis (-11 1/2, 41) at Atlanta 8:15 pm - Everything you're thinking about Atlanta is true. They're not very good and are suffering through a season tainted by Michael Vick. After wins over San Francisco and Carolina, they were throttled by the Bucs, 31-7. Indy may be a little dinged up, but their defense is still in good shape and one of the league's best. Should be another solid win for the Colts.

Prediction: Colts 34 Falcons 16

Sunday, Nov. 25

Buffalo at Jacksonville (-8, 36) 1:00 pm - Buffalo was absolutely flattened by New England, but that's expected and the team should not be disappointed by their effort. Playing in Jacksonville will probably come as somewhat of a relief and they will be ready. They will be without rookie running back Marshawn Lynch and JP Losman will likely start at QB. That combination should prove helpful to the Jags and their smothering defense. Jacksonville is looking better than they have all season and should romp.

Prediction: Jaguars 28 Buffalo 10

Denver at Chicago (-1 1/2, 41) 1:00 pm - The Broncos shocked Tennessee on Monday night and are tied with the Chargers at 5-5, atop the AFC West. They seem to have found their offense and the defense is making plays when needed. Meanwhile, the Bears are all but out of playoff contention and the team needs to regroup after a tough loss at Seattle. Denver won't let them relax and will win this outright.

Prediction: Broncos 24 Bears 17

--- Story continues below ---

Houston at Cleveland (-3 1/2, 51) 1:00 pm - Tough call here as the Texans continue to play well week in and week out. With Jacksonville at 7-3, the improved Browns are tied with Tennessee at 6-4, and there are three AFC teams with 5-5 records all looking for one wild card spot. It wouldn't surprise anyone if Houston upset here, as Cleveland has a nasty habit of blowing big leads. Against the Texans, they may not have one, much less a big one, to blow. Houston gets the nod in a close match.

Prediction: Texans 34 Browns 31

Minnesota at N.Y. Giants (-7, 40 1/2) 1:00 pm - The Vikings are hanging on for dear life at 4-6, while the Giants return to the friendly Meadowlands. Minnesota is a dismal 1-4 on the road and that's not likely to improve against the Giants, who are thinking playoffs and playing like true contenders.

Prediction: Giants 24 Minnesota 13

New Orleans (-3, 41) at Carolina 1:00 pm - Carolina will start Vinny Testaverde, but the team is really struggling, even moreso than the unpredictable Saints. Both are 4-6, so this is a pivotal game. The Panthers have the better defense, the Saints are superior on offense. Since the Panthers are at home, this line should have been Carolina -3, not the other way around. A vote of confidence in 44-year-old Testaverde.

Prediction: Panthers 21 Saints 17

Oakland at Kansas City (-5 1/2, 34 1/2) 1:00 pm - The Raiders are acting more like the faders at 2-8 and one has to wonder when Jamarcus Russell will see action at QB. If Oakland is far behind in the 4th quarter, maybe he'll get in, though the Raiders say he won't start this season. Well, that's a ton of money for a bench-warmer and seems pretty stupid. Chalk the inept raiders up for another loss and probably another crack at a high draft choice. Raider nation is not happy.

Prediction: Chiefs 20 Raiders 10

Seattle (-3, 45) at St. Louis 1:00 pm - The Rams have awakened. With two straight wins on the road, they look like the team they were supposed to be at the start of the season. They catch Seattle at just the right moment, when the Seahawks have a slim lead in the horrible NFC West. At 2-8 a Rams win would only be helpful to the Cardinals, but they're likely to oblige.

Prediction: Rams 31 Seahawks 28
