Sunday, September 23

Arizona at Baltimore (-8, 35) 1:00 pm - With Kyle Boller at QB, how much chance does Baltimore have of winning any game? They barely survived against the Jets last week and now have a hungry Cardinals team invading the harbor. The generous point spread is a gift for lovers of underrated underdogs. The Cardinals have a solid team and will challenge for the NFC West title. They knocked off Seattle last week and will be gunning for more here.

Prediction: Cardinals 24 Ravens 16

Buffalo at New England (-16 1/2, 42) 1:00 pm - OUCH! The Bills have scored just one offensive touchdown and are ranked 31st in both offense and defense. The Pats are ranked 1st in defense and 2nd on offense and this looks like one of the biggest mismatches of the season. Will New England suffer a letdown after their emotional win over San Diego? Doubt it. It's hard to envision the Patriots losing more than 3 games this season, and this isn't one of them.

Prediction: Patriots 40 Buffalo 0

Detroit at Philadelphia (-6, 44) 1:00 pm - Earth to Vegas... come in, Vegas. The Eagles have looked horrible in 2 games this season and have the luxury of having to cover Detroit's talented receiving corps. The Lions are 2-0, hungry for more, and playing with a winning attitude for the first time in years. If the defense ever comes around, look out. Donovan McNabb's problems are somewhat self-created, but on the other hand, Kevin Curtis, Hank Baskett, Reggie Brown and Jason Avant isn't a very scary bunch of receivers. Take the points, please.

Prediction: Lions 27 Eagles 21

Indianapolis (-6, 47 1/2) at Houston 1:00 pm - The Texans have been impressive so far this season and you know they'll be geared up for a divisional showdown on their home field. The Texans actually won their last meeting with Indy, winning 27-24 on the road last season, though the Colts were resting some starters. Despite the somewhat obvious superiority of the Colts, it's still early and some players may not be going full tilt for Indy. Besides, getting 6 or more points at home in a divisional contest is an automatic. Expect a huge defensive effort from the Texans.

Prediction: Texans 17 Colts 13

Miami at N.Y. Jets (-3, 35 1/2) 1:00 pm - The Jets really need a win and there's no better team for them to face at this point than their perennial whipping boy from Florida. New York is 15-2-1 in their last 18 games with Miami, so what do you think? Kellen Clemens looked pretty darned good in the second half last week against Baltimore and will get the start again, though Chad Pennington is available. Miami was throttled by Dallas at home last week and are ranked near the bottom on both offense and defense. A Jets home win is in the forecast.

Prediction: Jets 28 Dolphins 10

--- Story continues below ---

Minnesota at Kansas City (-2 1/2, 33) 1:00 pm - Tough game to call, but Minnesota has shown plenty of offense to go with a solid defense. KC is a tough place to play, but the Chiefs won't gain 100 yards on the ground and that spells another loss.

Prediction: Vikings 27 Chiefs 23

San Diego (-4 1/2, 43 1/2) at Green Bay 1:00 pm - Second straight road game for the Chargers could result in somewhat of an upset, though Green Bay's two wins have come against a couple of questionable teams, the Giants and Eagles. Brett Favre will do his best to keep the Packers in this one, but the Chargers know they need to get a win. The offense must get LaDainian Tomlinson more touches and keep the ball out of the hands of the Packer offense. The Bolts can win this game, but it's likely to be a shoot out.

Prediction: Chargers 34 Packers 28

San Francisco at Pittsburgh (-9, 38) 1:00 pm - Sure, the Steelers have looked awesome against Cleveland and Buffalo, so how about playing a real team? The 49ers have won a pair of close games and will pressure Pittsburgh's secondary all afternoon. Pittsburgh is probably as good as their 2-0 record indicates, but the line seems just a touch generous. This one could go either way, so the points may come in handy.

Prediction: Steelers 27 49ers 24

St. Louis at Tampa Bay (-3 1/2, 38) 1:00 pm - The Bucs' surprising win over the Saints last week moved the line in this contest significantly. The Rams are unsurprisingly 0-2, but their offense is in good shape and should test Tampa Bay's questionable defense. Marc Bulger will need to get the ball into the hands of his talented teammates, particularly Steven Jackson, who has yet to get untracked. This will be a bruising game, but the Rams' offense should lead the way.

Prediction: Rams 31 Bucs 16
