Fearless Rick's NFL Week 11 Picks - Late Games

Arizona (-3, 47 1/2) at Seattle 4:05 PM - After avoiding disaster against San Francisco on Monday night, holding off the 49ers at the goal line for a 29-24 win, the Cardinals have a firm grasp on the NFC West. They are 6-3, while all other teams in the division are at 2-7. It's the biggest lead of any divisional leader, 4 games, and the Cardinals can take another step towards clinching with a win over the Seahawks, a team they'll play once more, in the final week of the regular season.

While that season-ender will, in all likelihood, be an inconsequential event, this one is leaning hard toward the Cardinals. With all their receivers healthy and Kurt Warner directing the offense, the Cards should shred the Seattle secondary all afternoon and chalk up a huge victory. The Seahawks have beaten only San Fran and the Rams, other also-rans in their division.

Prediction: Cardinals 41 Seahawks 23

St. Louis at San Francisco (-6 1/2, 44) 4:05 PM - Speaking of the Rams and 49ers, here they are, in the flesh. Sure, the 'Niners almost beat Arizona last week, and the Rams were completely humbled at the Jets, but San Fran has a short week after a Monday night road loss, a nearly certain formula for defeat. St. Louis is on the road again, for the second straight week, but at least they can get some veteran revenge against their former coach "genius" Mike Martz, who is now the 49ers' offensive coordinator. A win for the Rams? Why not? This game is hardly worth watching in any case.

Prediction: Rams 24 49ers 21

Tennessee (-3, 39 1/2) at Jacksonville 4:15 PM - Well, the Bears couldn't beat the Titans last week, even though they stuffed the running game very effectively (20 yards rushing), so how should the Jags turn the trick? In week 1, the Titans prevailed at home, 17-10, but since then, they've solidified every aspect of their game while the Jaguars, at 3-5 until last week's 38-14 romp over the lackluster Lions, are just barely off life support.

The Titans know the Jags very well and have won two of their last three against them. With a defense that simply goes out and damages people week after week, the Jaguars are looking at the end of their season here. Tennessee will improve to 10-0 and continue their march to the Super Bowl.

Prediction: Titans 27 Jaguars 10

San Diego at Pittsburgh (-5, 41 1/2) 4:15 PM - The Steelers had 13 players on their injury list, including Troy Polamalu, Ben Roethlisberger and Hines Ward, but those three will play as the list was cut down to six. Tight End Heath Miller will be out of action with an ankle injury, though RB Willie Parker will be in the starting backfield and that should boost Pittsburgh's offense. San Diego is in deep trouble, especially with the Broncos winning again on Thursday night. They need a win just to stay within a game of the AFC West lead, but one has to question the firing of Marty Schottenheimer after a playoff loss two years ago. With Norv Turner as head coach, the Chargers are a pedestrian 15-10 during the regular season and they flopped at New England again last year in the playoffs. Their defensive backfield has injury issues, and that group hasn't played well all season. A loss here would make the Chargers 4-6 and their history at Pittsburgh is not very good.

Prediction: Steelers 31 Chargers 24

--- Story continues below ---

Dallas at Washington (even, 44) 8:15 PM - Tony Romo returns to salvage the season for the Cowboys, though it's probably too late to accomplish much except compete for a playoff spot with other 5-4 and 6-3 NFC teams such as the Eagles, Redskins, Buccaneers, Vikings, Bears and Falcons. Head coach Wade Phillips keeps saying that Romo is throwing the ball with more "zip," which is a good sign that he's ready to go against arch-rival Washington.

At 6-3, the Redskins have a game advantage over the Cowboys and beat them in Dallas back in September, 26-24. Dallas, while coming off a bye week, will be playing their 4th road game of their last five, a kind of scheduling mess, and that will work against them. Washington doesn't excel offensively, but their defense has been solid all season long and should contain Dallas enough to get the ball to the offense for scores.

Prediction: Redskins 23 Cowboys 17

MON, NOV 17

Cleveland at Buffalo (-5, 42) 8:30 PM - Both of these teams were supposed to be contending for playoff spots, but life in the NFL is seldom as predicted. The Bills started off red hot, 4-0, but have since dropped 4 of their last 5. The Browns never really got started, beginning the season 0-3, but going 3-3 since. With Brady Quinn finally getting the nod at QB, the Browns are excited about their offense once again.

This one may boil down to which QB plays better. Quinn looked good against Denver, completing 23 of 35 for 239 yards and 2 TDs without an interception, while Buffalo's Trent Edwards has been shaky ever since his concussion in week 5 at Arizona. Turnover has been Edwards' middle name in each game since. Look for Quinn to light up the Bills' secondary and pull off the upset.

Prediction: Browns 31 Bills 26
