Thursday November 26

Texas Longhorns (-21 1/2, 62 1/2) at Texas A&M Aggies 8:00 pm - A college football treat for Thanksgiving evening, puts us in front of the flat screens for a game that very well could put the entire family to sleep. While the network will undoubtedly attempt to play this game up as a major rivalry (it once was) the Aggies are a 6-5 team with some pretty ugly losses in there, such as the 65-10 beat-down at Oklahoma and the 47-19 loss - at home - to Arkansas.

Meanwhile, the Longhorns are 11-0 and headed for the Big 12 championship game against Nebraska on Dec. 5, and, if all goes well there, a shot at the national championship in January. Three TDs doesn't sound like enough to lasso the Longhorns.

PREDICTION: Longhorns 48 Aggies 17

Friday, November 27

Illinois fighting Illini vs. Cincinnati Bearcats (-19, 56) 12:00 pm - Like Texas, the Bearcats sport an impressive, unbeaten record at 10-0. There are some differences here, however. First, Cincy's won their last two games by narrow margins - 2 points over UConn and 3 points over West Virginia - and both of those games were at home, so there's a feeling that the Bearcat defense may not be all that good even though they're ranked near the top at a mere 16.9 ppg (Illinois allows 26).

And of course, the Fighting Illini can't keep up with the Bearcats on offense. The stats are skewed even more: 38.4 ppg for Cincy; 20.2 for Illinois. But, the 3-6 Illini have not been beaten by more than 18 points since week 4, when they lost, 35-17 to Penn State. Since then, the games have been closer, and they actually won at Minnesota and then beat Michigan on the 7th of November. Their last game was a 5 point loss to Northwestern.

This is an improving team and the Bearcats will struggle to win here.

PREDICTION: Bearcats 35 Fighting Illini 30

Northern Illinois Huskies at Central Michigan Chippewas (-10 1/2, 50 1/2) 1:00 pm - This is just icing on the cake for the 9-2 (7-0, conference) Chippewas. Even a loss to the Huskies will not prevent them from a meeting with either Temple or Ohio for the MAC championship in another week, but, they won't lose this game. In fact, they'll likely win it by 3 TDs or more, as they have most of their conference games.

If you haven't seen the Chips in action, here's your chance to catch one of the best QB prospects in the nation, Dan LeFevour. Check these stats: 71.7% completions, 2533 yards, 22 TDs, 5 INTs.

PREDICTION: Chippewas 41 Huskies 21

Alabama Crimson Tide (-12 1/2, 47) at Auburn Tigers 2:30 pm - Well, it is rivalry week after all and it doesn't get any more contentious than the annual Iron Bowl, this year being played at Auburn. If there ever was a trap game, this is it, as the Tigers will be hell-bent to upset the undefeated Crimson Tide, their in-state arch enemy.

Not that it hasn't happened before, Auburn won this annual season-ender six straight times before being humbled at Alabama last year, 36-0. The Tide hasn't won at Auburn since 2001, with 3 straight losses on Tiger turf in the interim. The big edge is on defense, where the Crimson Tide excels, allowing just 9.9 points per game, as compared to Auburn's 27.0. Therein lies the key to victory.

PREDICTION: Crimson Tide 24 Tigers 7

Nebraska Cornhuskers (-8, 37 1/2) at Colorado Buffaloes 3:30 pm - The Buffs have been improving all year, and last week nearly knocked off Oklahoma State, so this little trip to the mountains is no hike in the park for the 'Huskers. Nebraska has already locked up their invite to the Big 12 championship game, topping Kansas State - their closest threat - last week, 17-3, so a letdown would be natural.

It does not appear that the Nebraska coaches and players are going to rest on their collective laurels. They'll want to remain sharp for their little tilt with Texas on Dec. 5.

Nebraska doesn't normally blow their opponents away, but of their five wins in the conference only one - their 10-3 win over Oklahoma - was by less than 10 points. The Buffaloes are improving, though, and they are at home, which means they're likely to keep this one close and possibly spring the upset.

PREDICTION: Cornhuskers 21 Buffaloes 17

Pittsburgh Panthers (-1 1/2, 49) at West Virginia Mountaineers 7:00 pm - Now we're talking. The Panthers need to win here in order to set up a showdown with Cincinnati next week for all the Big East marbles. Pitt has had a week off after their 27-22 win over Notre Dame, a game in which the Panthers nearly blew an 18-point, 4th quarter lead.

The Pitt players may have become complacent or sloppy in that game, and they'll have to guard against doing the same thing against the Mountaineers, who have the kind of players on offense capable of scoring quickly. West Virginia gave Cincy all they could handle last week before finally capitulating, 24-21. The Mountaineers have only lost twice in the conference, but Pitt has not lost a single Big east game and doesn't plan on doing so here. The Panthers have been playing for keeps all season and they will get the job done against an improving west Virginia squad.

PREDICTION: Panthers 30 Mountaineers 26

Nevada Wolf Pack at Boise State Broncos (-12, 73) 10:00 pm - Boise remains undefeated and needs just a win here to complete their second straight unbeaten regular season. The Broncos have won the last 9 meetings between these two, but the games are often contentious affairs, such as the 69-67, multiple OT win in 2007, or last season's 41-34 win.

Nevada got off to a horrible start, losing their first 3 games, but have won 8 straight since then, and have their offense in high gear. In fact, their 64 TDs is better than even the Broncos' 57. At 7-0, the Wolf Pack can claim the WAC championship, whereas Boise needs to win here and again next week against New Mexico State.

The Nevada kids are seeking respect and they appear worthy of it.

PREDICTION: Wolf Pack 48 Broncos 42
