Louisiana Tech at Boise State (-38, 64), 8:00 pm - OK, since everybody needs a college gridiron fix on a Tuesday night, this is going to have to suffice. At the very least, the nation's eyes will have one more chance to see the best team in the country, that being Boise State. If they don't win this game by more than 40 points, it will be a shame, because then the pundits and idiots (one and the same) will be able to say they're not worthy of playing for the national championship, which anybody who's paid attention the past three years knows isn't true.

Analysis of this game is unnecessary. Boise should thump these guys, but spotting any college team 5 TDs and a field goal simply isn't right. Just to make it interesting, I'll take the 2-4 Bulldogs to cover. At least it gives one some reason to watch. The Broncos have beaten LA Tach 8 straight, but the last time they played - in 2009, at LA Tach - the Broncos only won by 10, 45-35, and the Bulldogs worst defeat this season was only by 32 points, at Texas A&M.

Prediction: Broncos 48 Bulldogs 17

Thursday, Oct. 28

Florida State (-3 1/2, 57) at NC State, 7:30 pm - If you're going to break away from the World Series, this game should offer some excitement. The Seminoles have emerged from the pack as the top team in a wide-open ACC, though NC State did make a case earlier in the season with wins over Cincinnati and Georgia Tech. Since then they're 1-2, losing to Virginia Tech and East Carolina, with a rousing 44-17 win over Boston College in between.

Look for the Wolfpack to rebound smartly here. They're well-coached and a win would put them in good position to capture the ACC Atlantic. Florida State currently leads, at 4-0, but NC State is 2-1, making this game of huge importance. The Wolfpack will have to find a way through the Florida state defense, which is very good. Outside of their 47-17 collapse at Oklahoma, they've allowed just 66 points in 6 wins, but the Wolfpack can score on anybody and they're poised for the home upset.

Prediction: Wolfpack 29 Seminoles 27

Friday, Oct. 29

West Virginia (-6 1/2, 45 1/2) at Connecticut, 8:00 pm - Last weekend, the Mountaineers were absolutely stunned by Syracuse, 19-14, at home and will need to step up the offensive production against the Huskies, who are 0-2 in the conference and in desperate need of a win.

When the season started, these two teams were picked by many to vie for the Big East title and they may still. Thanks to Syracuse, the conference has been blown wide open, as the Orange have manufactured upsets over West Virginia and South Florida. Only Pitt is undefeated in the Big East, at 2-0, and the Panthers still have both of these teams yet to play.

The Huskies have never beaten West Virginia in six tries, though last season's game was a 28-24 Mountaineer win. UConn needs this game badly and the spread gives home-dog-players high hope.

Prediction: Huskies 24 Mountaineers 21

Miami (-15, 51) at Virginia, 12:00 pm - After being hammered, 45-17, by Florida State, the Hurricanes have regrouped and won two straight, at Duke and last week at home, with an impressive 33-10 victory over North Carolina.

The Hurriances should make it three in a row against the Cavaliers, who have not fared well in conference games, losing all three that they've played and by an average of 22 points. They have deficiencies on both sides of the ball and their special teams aren't very special. Could be a Hurricane blow-away.

Prediction: Hurricanes 41 Cavaliers 17

Clemson (-7, 40 1/2) at Boston College, 12:00 pm - The Tigers are another ACC team with hopes of going to the conference championship, and they made their presence felt with a 27-13 win over Georgia Tech last week. At 2-2 in the conference and with NC State, Florida St. and Wake Forest still ahead, this is a must-win game for Clemson.

The Tigers should have little problem getting past the 2-5 Eagles, who have lost all four of their ACC match-ups. They played their last two - against the Seminoles and Terrapins - pretty close, losing by 5 and 3 points, respectively, but a 19-point loss to Virginia Tech and a 44-17 beating by NC State prove that the Eagles haven't landed, they've crashed, and that's good for hungry Tigers.

Prediction: Tigers 34 Eagles 14

Tulsa at Notre Dame (-8, 62), 2:30 pm - The Golden Hurricane is a scoring machine, putting up 38.4 points per game (13th nationally) this season, despite a 3-4 record and that's bad news for the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame is 4-4 and looking for bowl eligibility, so they'll have to win 2 of their final four games, which includes this one, Utah and Army at home, and a season-ender at USC. Considering that the Irish, in their four losses, have given up 28, 34, 37 and 35 points, playing a top-flight offense from C-USA doesn't bode well, especially with nose guard Ian Williams out for the season.

Tulsa's got nothing to lose here as it's an out-of-conference game and their two C-USA losses were by two points to East Carolina and three points to SMU, both on the road. Upset looms and Notre Dame's season goes on the ropes.

Prediction: Golden Hurricane 38 Fighting Irish 31
