Jacksonville Jaguars (-1, 41) at Buffalo Bills 1:00 pm - Despite the Jags beating the Colts last week, that really doesn't tell us much about the overall ability of the team because that was an important divisional game and the Jags know the Colts all too well from years of competition in the AFC South.

Buffalo was absolutely clobbered by the Jets on their own soil, and they're back in front of potentially hostile fans once again. The people of Buffalo deserve better than the poorly-manufacted product the front office has provided. The Bills may finish with less than 3 wins this season, and this probably isn't where they get their first one.

Prediction: Jaguars 28 Bills 23

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-6 1/2, 38) at Cincinnati Bengals 1:00 pm - As good as Cincinnati's defense is, their offense leaves much to be desired, but Tampa Bay's secondary probably won't be able to handle Ochocinco and the rest of the gang of receivers. The Bengals are going to bust out soon, and Tampa's defense has proven vulnerable.

Prediction: Bengals 31 Buccaneers 10

Atlanta Falcons (-3, 40 1/2) at Cleveland Browns 1:00 pm - Both squads coming off home wins and the Brownies get to stay put for a week. Wiht a win under their collective belts, Cleveland might be ready to spring another surprise, but the Falcons have been playing at a pretty high level, beating New orleans and San Francisco in successive weeks.

The very short line is indicative of an understanding by the oddsmakers that Cleveland may not be as bad as their 1-3 record would otherwise indicate. This reeks of upset.

Prediction: Browns 21 Falcons 20

St. Louis Rams at Detroit Lions (-3, 42 1/2) 1:00 pm - Edge here to Sam Bradford and the Rams on a two-game win streak. All of the pieces are falling into place for the Rams to surprise and win the NFC West.

Detroit has come close and this should be an offensive display, though the Rams' defense is slowly developing into a solid unit. They're 4th overall at 13 points per game, though they're 23rd in yards allowed, at 347 per contest. They bend and don't break.

Prediction: Rams 31 Lions 17

Kansas City at Indianapolis Colts (-8 1/2, 44 1/2) 1:00 pm - OK, so maybe the Chiefs are the only unbeaten team in the league and maybe they're not as good as they themselves believe, but the Colts don't have a credible defense, and that's a problem no matter who's lining up on the other side of the ball.

What's to like about Kansas City is their defense, which hasn't given up more than 14 points in any of their three games this season. Excuses may abound from the teams they've already beaten, but the proof is on the scoreboard at the end of their games.

KC is allowing 313 yards per outing, including 238 passing, which is 25th in the league. Even though they're playing Manning and the pass-happy Colts, that's not necessarily bad, as their rushing stats (75 allowed per game, 5th overall) lead to the inescapable truth that teams can't run the ball against them, have been usually trailing, and resort to passing.

Since Indy doesn't run the ball well on a regular basis, the Chiefs just need to play disciplined and score 24 to 30 points, a doable feat.

Prediction: Chiefs 27 Colts 24

Green Bay Packers (-2 1/2, 44) at Washington Redskins 1:00 pm - The line-makers must think people are stupid. This is one of six lines with the road team as a favorite, so it's fair to believe that some guys in Vegas are betting on the usual high numbers of people playing favorites.

Since home teams cover more than 60% of the time when underdogs, one barely has to do any analysis on games like this - just take the points and wait for the percentages to make you a winner. Besides, the 'Skins are improving by the week.

Prediction: Redskins 27 Packers 20

Chicago Bears (-3, 35 1/2) at Carolina Panthers 1:00 pm - WOW! The Bears' offense looked really ugly Sunday night against the Giants. It was amazing the score wasn't any worse than it was. Carolina, however, is 0-4, and does not have nearly the kind of D-line that the Giants have (no team does, for that matter).

Even Chicago's patchwork offensive line will be able to keep the Panther sackers at bay. Whether the Bears can find a way to actually win on the road is another matter. Carolina almost beat the Saints last week and with more experience, rookie QB jimmy Clausen is going to continue to improve. Tough defense to win against, but the Panthers are a hungry bunch and getting points at home.

Bears can't run the ball. A real problem.

Prediction: Panthers 24 Bears 14
