--- Week 3 Notes below ---

Looking for the best NFL Handicapper? Good luck. Most of them suck.

Week 3 Notes:

Six teams from the Week 2 rankings took losses in Week 3 - Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan State, Auburn, Arizona State and Maryland. Of those teams, only Florida State, a 23-13 home loser to Oklahoma (a top 5 team), remained inside the Top 25, as the Seminoles don't deserve many bad marks for losing to one of the best teams in the country, though still fell from #6 to #13 in the current rankings.

Moving up off wins were Texas A&M, taking over the vacated #6 spot, Arkansas, a 38-28 winner over Troy, cruising up to #7, South Carolina, which took a hard-fought 24-21 win over Navy improving to 3-0 and #8, and Oklahoma State, 59-33 winners over Tulsa, took down the #9 slot.

Virginia Tech, which moved up from #12, rounds out the Top 10. The Hokies handled Arkansas St., 26-7, and are 3-0. A pair of Big 10 schools, Nebraska and Wisconsin moved up to the #11 and #12 spots respectively, as Nebraska popped Washington, 51-38, and the Badgers pounded Northern Illinois, 49-7.

Due to five teams falling out, spaces near the bottom of the rankings were taken by Clemson, which ended Auburn's 17-game winning streak with a convincing 38-24 victory, and moved into the #21 placing.

The bottom four spots were taken by Texas (22), Illinois (23), USC (24) and Michigan (25), all of which are 3-0 and recorded wins over the weekend. Texas smothered UCLA, 49-20, the Illini shocked Arizona State, 17-14, USC pounded Syracuse, 38-17 and Michigan easily took out in-state rival Eastern Michigan by a 31-3 tally.

Back at the top, #1 Stanford continued to pound away, taking out a good Arizona team on their own turf, 37-10. LSU proved its mettle with a 19-6 win over Mississippi State. Alabama took the measure of visiting North Texas, 41-0, and Boise State popped Toledo, 40-15.

Just missing the Top 25 were Iowa State, a 24-21 winner at UConn, and Georgia Tech, which absolutely demolished Kansas, 66-24. Both teams are 3-0 and another win will make them irresistible to the top 25 rankings.

Upcoming key Week 4 games are Florida State at Clemson, LSU at West Virginia, Georgia Tech at 3-0 North Carolina, Arkansas at Alabama, Oklahoma State at Texas A&M in an early Big 12 showdown (they better hurry as the conference is breaking apart fast) and South Carolina hosting a 3-0 Vanderbilt squad. #1 Stanford has the week off and next see action October 1, when the host the UCLA Bruins.

There are still 33 teams without a loss thus far in the season, but there's a long, long way to go.
