--- Week 4 Notes below ---

Looking for the best NFL Handicapper? Good luck. Most of them suck.

Week 4 Notes:

Five teams took losses in Week 4 on the college football circuit. Two fell from the Top 10 - #6 Texas A&M and #7 Arkansas - though because the losses were to highly-ranked opponents - Oklahoma State, 30-29 and Alabama, 38-14, respectively - they did not drop out of the Top 25 rankings. The Aggies fell to #17 while Arkansas dropped to #15.

Further down the rankings, #13 Florida State lost at Clemson, 35-30, dropping the Seminoles to 2-2 and out of the Top 25 for the time being, while #14 West Virginia was being overwhelmed, 47-21, by a very, very good LSU team, though their loss, like Texas A&M's, was at home, a more serious situation resulting in a sizable drop in the rankings. LSU's win certified their #2 ranking.

Down near the bottom, #24 USC was unceremoniously slapped around at Arizona State, 43-22, which takes the place of the Trojans as the third PAC-12 team in the Top 25 rankings.

Thus, the top five remained the same as the last week. Stanford was idle and retains the top ranking, though LSU and Alabama certainly closed ground. #4 Oklahoma, which was supplanted at the #1 spot in the AP poll by LSU, trailed at home for the first time since 2007 when the Sooners found themselves down to Missouri, 14-3, though it was only the first quarter. From that point on, the Sooners outscored the Tigers 35-14, winning handily, 38-28.

The game was not even close nearing the end. Missouri got to within 10, at 31-21, but Landry Jones hit his main man, Ryan Broyles, for a 4-yard TD - the duo's third TD connection of the game - minutes later. The last Missouri TD was scored with just 28 seconds remaining and had no bearing on the outcome of the contest.

Boise State kept up with its big conference brethren with a relatively easy, 41-21, home win over Tulsa.
#6 South Carolina and #8 Virginia Tech, #9 Nebraska and #10 Wisconsin were all easy winners. After their season-opening loss to LSU, Oregon has rocketed up the rankings to #11, especially with their Saturuday night, 56-31, pounding of Arizona on the Wildcats' home turf. Unloved Houston, Florida and Baylor also moved up.

Georgia Tech reached 4-0 with a 35-28 win over North Carolina and enters the rankings at #18. Clemson moved up one spot and Michigan leapfrogged past fellow Big Ten participant, Illinois. The Wolverines topped San Diego State, 28-7, while the Illini were not impressive, but beat Western Michigan, 23-20.
