Week 11 Notes:

Tide Rolls Out, Ducks Fy In: Oregon Is Number One

There were only three losers in the Top 25 rankings in Week 11, but they were notable, the biggest, of course, being Alabama, which has been at the top of the list the entire season, falling at home to Texas A&M, 29-24.

The Crimson Tide had been seen as vulnerable after narrowly escaping death valley with a 21-17 win at LSU last week. Now the - pardon the pun - Tide has turned - and the Crimson Tide, along with the rest of the SEC, is on the outside looking in at the national championship scenario.

#2 Oregon moved up to #1 with their hammering, 59-17, win over Cal, while Notre Dame took the #2 spot and Kansas State grabbed #3 winning over Boston College and TCU, respectively, though for now, the Wildcats look to be playing better than the Fighting Irish, but polls and rankings don't matter when teams hit the field in December and January.

While Kansas State topped the BCS rankings this week, with Oregon second, the actual coaches and writers polls - the AP and USA Today - have those spots reversed, the Ducks rightfully - in our opinion - deserving of the top ranking.

Elsewhere, Syracuse dropped a bomb on Louisville with a 45-26 surprise victory at the Carrier Dome. The Orange led all the way in a game that was never close except in the opening minutes.

The other loser was #16 Oregon State, falling to 7-2 after losing to Stanford, 27-23. The Beavers fell to #22, right behind fellow PAC-12 teams, USC and UCLA. Alabama dropped to #5 (behind 10-0 Ohio State), while Louisville was bumped from #7 all the way down to #18.
