Fiesta Bowl
Boise State vs. Arizona (-3, 69 1/2)
At-Large vs. At-Large, Glendale, AZ, U. of Phoenix Stadium, Wed., Dec. 31, 5:00 p.m. ET, ESPN - A wild one to get New Year's Eve off in rousing fashion, as the Broncos have won eight straight and have developed a habit of winning the Fiesta Bowl, as they knocked off Oklahoma in '08 and TCU in '10.

Boise State captured the Mountain West title with a 28-14 win over Fresno State on December 6, and, at 11-2, have little to prove here.

Arizona surprised most of the West Coast handicappers by winning their division in the PAC-12, losing only to USC and UCLA before their eventual rematch with Oregon, after beating the Ducks 31-24 during the regular season.

That game didn't go well for Arizona, losing 51-13 in the championship meeting, but they're likely to make amends by keeping Boise's potent offense out of the end zone on multiple occasions.

Prediction: Wildcats 41 Broncos 27

Orange Bowl
Georgia Tech vs. Mississippi State (-7 1/2, 61 1/2)
ACC vs. SEC, Miami Gardens, FL, Sun Life Stadium, Wed., Dec. 31, 8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN - Not a part of the playoff picture (only the Rose and Sugar Bowls are), this game offers an intriguing match-up between the ACC and SEC, and, as usual, the SEC is a heavy favorite.

The Yellow Jackets came out of nowhere to win 10 games and lose to Florida State in the ACC final, 37-35, but prior to that, their defense was clicking, as they won five straight to take their division, notably holding Clemson to just six points in a 28-6 victory.

The Bulldogs of Mississippi State had everything their way until losing to Alabama, 25-20, and then were taken to task by Ole Miss, 31-17, in a must-win situation. One has to feel that Mississippi State's players are emotionally spent, and will not be at the same emotional level as their counterparts from Georgia Tech.

Prediction: Yellow Jackets 28 Bulldogs 23
