Thursday, November 27

Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions (-7, 47 1/2) 12:30 pm - The Lions have fallen in each of their last two games - at Arizona and at New England - and the wear and tear of consecutive road games is evident.

Chicago kept its post-season hopes alive with a win over Tampa Bay, but the Bears are just 5-6 and Detroit could deliver the knockout blow with a win here. Don't let the previous two Detroit losses alter your outlook. The Lions are a likely playoff team which should get back on track, all before the turkey is carved.

Prediction: Lions 31 Bears 20

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys (-3, 54 1/2) 4:30 pm - If dinner runs a little late, worry not, because the second half of this epic NFC East struggle should provide plenty of post-meal excitement.

Both the Cowboys and Eagles come off wins in Week 12, but Dallas has the edge with home field. The Cowboy defense looked vulnerable to a hot NY Giants offense Sunday night, and the Eagles will pose a vicious threat, but Dallas has proven resilient, if nothing else, despite a 3-3 mark at home. These two teams meet again in just two weeks, at Philly, so, in terms of the divisional race, nothing will really be settled this weekend.

Prediction: Cowboys 40 Eagles 31

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (even, 40 1/2) 8:30 pm - Just your basic NFC West coin flip game between a pair of 7-4 squads with plenty of late-season and post-season experience, fighting for a wild card playoff spot, each two games behind the Arizona Cardinals.

The 49ers, in particular, have been hot, winners of three in a row, and they receive the benefit of home field on this Thanksgiving night extravaganza.

Prediction: 49ers 24 Seahawks 13

Sunday, November 30

Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills (-1, 41 1/2) 1:00 pm - Bills and Browns both coming off important wins, including Buffalo's slaughter of the New York Jets on Monday night.

While the Bills still have dreams of making the playoffs, the reality is closer for Cleveland and their improving defense should manage to keep the home team in check and the crowd somewhat silent.

Prediction: Browns 23 Bills 9

San Diego Chargers at Baltimore Ravens (-4 1/2, 45) 1:00 pm - There are six teams in the AFC with 7-4 records and these are two of them. With the exception of Indianapolis - which leads the AFC South by two games over Houston - the other five are vying for two wild card spots.

This should be a close game until the end, making the points a very friendly proposition.

Prediction: Chargers 24 Ravens 20

New York Giants (-2 1/2, 44) at Jacksonville Jaguars 1:00 pm - Nothing game. Neither team has any prospects for the playoffs, but, the Giants have the possible rookie of the year in receiver Odell Beckham, reason enough to catch at least the highlights from this one.

Prediction: Giants 27 Jaguars 20

Cincinnati Bengals (-3 1/2, 44) at Tampa Bay Bucs 1:00 pm - 2-9 Tampa Bay's season was over some time ago, while the Bengals continue to hold a slim edge in the AFC North, with three hot pursuers right behind them. A must road win situation in which the Bengals get the best of their efforts.

Prediction: Bengals 34 Buccaneers 14

Oakland Raiders at St. Louis Rams (-7, 43) 1:00 pm - Oakland finally ended their 10-game skid with an unlikely win over Kansas City last Thursday and have the advantage of extra prep time for this game without meaning.

Rams are 3-3 over their last six, with wins over Seattle, San Francisco and Denver - all potential playoff teams. Are they that good? No. Points will cover.

Prediction: Rams 20 Raiders 17

Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans (-7, 42 1/2) 1:00 pm - Stats give Houston a huge advantage in this somewhat meaningless contest. The Titans have folded up their tents and are looking forward to a long off-season rest.

Houston still is alive for a playoff spot, but they must continue to win and get some help. A loss here would likely be fatal, and, since they're not ready to die, should win with ease.

Prediction: Texans 31 Titans 16

Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings (-2 1/2, 43) 1:00 pm - Another in a long list of games that have zero playoff implications, though the loser will look better heading into the Spring draft.

Does anyone really care? Take the home squad.

Prediction: Vikings 22 Panthers 14

New Orleans Saints at Pittsburgh Steelers (-3, 51) 1:00 pm - Realistically, the Saints are not the team America has come to love over the past five or six seasons. Heavily banged up and losers of three straight - all at home - New Orleans is just 4-7, the polar opposite of the Steelers.

If Pittsburgh's front line gives QB Roethlisberger enough time, he should make mincemeat of the Saints' secondary, one of the league's worst.

Prediction: Steelers 38 Saints 27

Washington Redskins at Indianapolis Colts (-9 1/2, 51) 1:00 pm - The Redskins have been playing a little better since the return of RG3, but still losing.

The Colts are putting it all together, scoring 30.3 ppg while improving on defense. Could be the blowout of the day.

Prediction: Colts 37 Redskins 17
