New York Jets at Oakland Raiders (-13 1/2, 43 1/2), 4:05 pm, CBS - After losing at Buffalo, the lowly Jets have to travel cross-country to be blasted by the Raiders, possibly the best team in the AFC. This will not be pretty.

Coin Flip: NY Jets

Prediction: Raiders 34 Jets 6

Dallas Cowboys (-2, 43) at Denver Broncos, 4:25 pm, FOX - Dallas may actually be better than they were last season, which will make life difficult for the Broncos. Denver is a solid team, but they won't be able to keep the Cowboy offense out of the end zone very often.

Coin Flip: Denver

Prediction: Cowboys 30 Broncos 17

Washington Redskins at LA Rams (-2 1/2, 46), 4:25 pm, FOX - The Rams may have captured lightning in a bottle this season with Jared Goff at QB and a stifling defense. If Todd Gurly ever finds his college running form, the Rams will be virtually unbeatable.

Washington lost at home to Philadelphia, 30-17, in week one and their job isn't any easier on the road this week.

Coin Flip: Washington

Prediction: Rams 27 Redskins 17

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks (-12 1/2, 43), 4:25 pm, FOX - Um, no, the 49ers have no chance of winning this game after Seattle lost to Green Bay last week. A total romp for the Seahawks.

Coin Flip: Seattle

Prediction: Seattle 42 49ers 10

Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons (-2 1/2, 53 1/2), 8:30 pm, NBC - Great Sunday night contest between the participants of last season's NC championship game, won by the Falcons, 44-21.

The Packers took a while to get things going in their 17-9 win over Seattle, and the defense was awesome, but the Falcons are another story altogether. Though their 23-17 win at Chicago was far from convincing, they have recovered from last season's collapse in the Super Bowl to the Patriots, so they should be just fine moving forward.

Expect an absolute scoring barrage between Aaron Rodgers and Matt Ryan, a close call in which the Eagles should prevail.

Coin Flip: Green Bay

Prediction: Falcons 38 Packers 35

Monday, September 18

Detroit Lions at New York Giants (-3 1/2, 43 1/2), 8:30 pm, ESPN - Five was the early (Monday afternoon) line on this game, but it's a little confusing, since the Giants were completely shut down at Dallas (19-3) and the Lions ravaged the Cardinals, 35-23 last week. If the read on the Giants is correct - not much offense, good defense - then the Lions should be in this one until the end.

Detroit is hungry for the playoffs after just missing last season, and they know it's going to be a long slog against the Vikings and Packers, so this is a game they need to win.

Coin Flip: Detroit

Prediction: Lions 24 Giants 14
