This section features magazine covers that, in my opinion, are considered works of art, historically significant or just plain beautiful.

PLEASE NOTE: The magazine covers described and pictured in this section are not for sale, primarily because they already have been sold to collectors on Ebay, but I've maintained the scans for historical perspective.

FIRST ISSUE of Sports Illustrated, 8/16/54. The First Issue contains a 27-card 1954 Topps Insert featuring cards of many great baseball players, including Ted Williams, Willie Mays , & Jackie Robinson! Photos in this magazine include of some of the most famous people of the 20th Century, such as Dwight Eisenhower, Pope Pious XII, Teddy Roosevelt, Babe Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Red Grange, Joe Louis, Babe Zaharias, Ben Hogan, Roger Bannister, Bobby Jones, Branch Rickey, James Naismith, Kenesaw "Mountain" Landis, & legendary sports-writer Grantland Rice. Rice who died 7/13/54, just before this magazine hit the newsstands, wrote his last article, featuring Bobby Jones in the U.S. Open, for this First Issue of Sports Illustrated.


High Society, May 1981. Inside are two pages of Cher in various see through outfits. The real deal on this is the cover, for which Cher obviously posed, proving that she is the original "material girl."

Covers by LeRoy Neiman, the famous sports painter, many of whose works appread in the pages of Playboy magazine. Early in his career Neiman was a ringside reporter for The Ring until his works of art began selling. He then devoted his time and life to painting, to the delight of us all.
