Publication Dates: 1937 - 1971
A popular general interest magazine published in the United States from 1937 to 1971, Look often featured movie stars on the cover but regularly covered serious social issues such as politics and race. The two- to three-month lead needed to compile and distribute the bi- weekly sometimes put topics on the newsstands at awkward times. In one instance, the results of an opinion poll on the 1964 presidential election appeared three weeks after Kennedy's November 22 assassination. When Look ceased publication, its owner gave the magazine's archive of negatives to the Library of Congress.
