4:00 pm Notre Dame (-11, 56) at Air Force - The Falcons can't throw with any success, so this is going to look a lot like the Notre Dame-Navy game from a few weeks ago. The Irish have one of the softest schedules of any Top 10 team and that may prevent them from getting a BCS bid. Notre Dame is on a 6-game win streak, but the teams they've beaten have a combined record of 21-35. Should they even be ranked? There are probably 15-20 teams in Division 1-A that could beat the Irish to a pulp.

Air Force is not one of those 15-20 teams, but they'll show up at home for what is for them a big game. At 4-4, beating the Irish would really put them on the bowl map. That's not likely, but Notre Dame is due for another close call.

Prediction: Fighting Irish 34 Falcons 27

6:15 pm Oregon St. (-2, 47) at UCLA - Oregon State followed up their upset win over USC with a trouncing 44-10 victory over Arizona State last week. The Beavers have finally cracked the BCS top 25, checking in at #24 in the current poll, but it may be short-lived as UCLA is capable of shutting down any opposing passing attack.

The 4-5 Bruins are probably better defensively than their stats show, having lost their last four to Oregon, Notre Dame, Washington State and Cal. Three of those were on the road, so expect the Bruins to step up this week and salvage some respect.

Prediction: Bruins 27 Beavers 24

7:00 pm Tennessee at Arkansas (-5 1/2, 46 1/2) - If Erik Ainge doesn't go for the Vols, this could be a lot worse than the line suggests. The Razorbacks will be happy to be back on familiar turf after a rough - though winning - outing against the Gamecocks in South Carolina last week.

Since their opening 50-17 loss to USC, Arkansas has allowed just 92 points over their last 8 games, all wins. That's just 11.5 points per game, and that's exceptional. With Tennessee struggling on offense, expect the Razorbacks to roll to one of their biggest wins of the season.

Prediction: Razorbacks 38 Volunteers 13

8:00 pm Wake Forest at Florida St. (-7, 41) - The Demon Deacons came through with a monster win over BC last week but still have work to do. After this tilt, they still have Virginia Tech and Maryland on the ACC schedule, but they have not wilted under pressure, plus they haven't lost any of their 4 games on the road.

The Seminoles may still be entertaining post-season thoughts, though the ACC title game is probably out of reach. At 5-4, they are still trying to become bowl eligible. The only ranked team they beat this season was Miami, in early September, and the Hurricanes haven't been ranked in over a month.

The trend is your friend here. Wake Forest will knock the snout out of the Seminoles with an improving defense and a tricky, dangerous offense.

Prediction: Demon Deacons 21 Seminoles 14

10:15 pm Oregon at USC (-7, 55 1/2) - The Ducks are still in the hunt for the PAC-10 title, albeit a slim one, but nothing would give them more pleasure than knocking off the Trojans. USC begins a three-game stretch against ranked teams here, with Cal on the 18th and Notre Dame on the 25th, so this will give somewhat of an indication of just how good they really are.

According to the line makers in Vegas, the Trojans are pretty good, but the line always tilts heavily towards them when they play at home. Last season, USC thumped the Ducks, 45-13 in Oregon, but many of the names on the USC jerseys have changed. The general feeling is that the Trojans are vulnerable and the Ducks will come well-prepared for a shoot-out.

Prediction: Ducks 37 Trojans 35
