Fearless Rick's NFL Football Picks - Week 17 late games
All times Eastern
NY Giants at Washington (-7 1/2, 44), 4:20 pm (FOX) - The Giants are in the playoffs as a wild card but the Redskins need to win in order to stay alive for post-season, though that could change as this game and others - specifically, Carolina at Tampa Bay (1:00 pm) and Green Bay at Detroit (8:30 pm) - No matter what the other teams do, the Redskins must win to stay alive for possible post-season as a wild card. They are likely to do so, but not without a solid effort from the G-Men.

Rick's Pick: Redskins 27 Giants 24
Matt McGloin will start for the Raiders, but it's the Oakland defense that needs to step up. They beat the Broncos, 30-20, in week 9. There's sufficient motivation for Oakland to win this final road game.

WEEK 17 NFL Picks- late games
Oakland at Denver (-2 1/2, 40 1/2), 4:25 pm (CBS) - Raiders' QB Derek Carr suffered a broken leg in Oakland's 33-25 win over the Colts last Saturday and has been ruled out for the season. Denver can't make the playoffs, so it's somewhat surprising to see them favored over the potential AFC West champions. Oakland has a one game lead over KC and would get a first-round bye with a win or a Kansas City loss, which is unlikely, as the Chiefs play San Diego later.
New Orleans at Atlanta (-6 1/2, 55 1/2), 4:25 pm (FOX) - If you think the O/U line is high for this contest, you may have a point, since New Orleans has been eliminated from post-season play and the Falcons have already clinched the NFC South with a 10-5 record coming in. The Falcons are at home and have momentum going into the playoffs, winning four of their last five. Also, Atlanta already has a week 3 victory over the Saints, 45-32. They should complete the sweet over the Saints.
Arizona (-6, 41) at Los Angeles, 4:25 pm (FOX) - Limited interest here as both teams will miss the post-season. At least Arizona has an offense, and can avenge an earlier (Oct. 2) 17-13 LA win. Worth a good look.
Kansas City (-4 1/2, 45) at San Diego, 4:25 pm (CBS) - KC will not know the outcome of the Raiders-Broncos unless this game goes late or there's a blowout in the other game, but it's difficult to see how a team that just lost to Cleveland can get motivated for the last regular season game. Chargers' players are likely waxing their surf boards this week while the Chiefs prepare for the playoffs.
Seattle(-10, 43) at San Francisco, 4:25 pm (FOX) - Seattle can move up a spot to the #2 NFC seed if they win and Atlanta and Detroit both lose, making this game a little bit important because the Seahawks may end up with a bye and a second round home game if everything falls into place. Good luck with that. The 49ers are a bad football team and the Seahawks already topped them, 37-18, in week 3. Arguably, San Francisco has not improved since then, if that's even possible.
Green Bay (-3 1/2, 48) at Detroit , 8:30 pm (FOX) - Obviously, this is the premier game of the day because the NFC North division winner will be determined by it. The Lions got stuffed by Dallas Monday night, 42-21, and are now tied at 9-6 with the red-hot Packers, who have won five straight after a four-game mid-season slide. With Arron Rodgers healthy, we believe we've seen this show before. Green Bay will advance. Detroit may get lucky and snag a wild card, pending the outcome of earlier gamesinvolving the Redskins and Buccaneers.
