Fearless Rick's NFL Football Picks - Week 3 late games
All times Eastern
San Francisco at Seattle (-9 1/2, 40 1/2), 4:05 (FOX) - Anybody who thinks the Seahawks are overrated gets immediately booed by the fans and sportscasters of the world, but they sure look like they are. They've managed to score just 15 points in their first two game, one a win over Miami, 12-10, week 1 in Seattle and last week a 9-3 defeat at LA.
Obviously, it's the offense that's not clicking. The defense seems solid. San Francisco, unfortunately, is not a very strong outfit, as evidenced by their 46-27 shellacking at Carolina last week. A coast-to-coast round-trip over two away games is a recipe for disaster, especially a team with the issues facing the 49ers.
Coin Flip: San Francisco
Prediction: Seahawks 35 49ers 17
The Rams took down the Seahawks, but they seem to have their number, plus they have to travel West to East, losing some time between zones. The emotions and travel should work against the Rams and in favor of Tampa.
Coin Flip: Tampa Bay
Prediction: Buccaneers 21 Rams 14
The Chargers took a big step forward with their 38-14 demolition of Jacksonville last week and they should have momentum to carry over into this week. Colts 0-3? Say it ain't so, but it may be so. Indy has allowed a league-high 73 points its first two games. How many will the Chargers hang on them?
Coin Flip: Indianapolis
Prediction: Chargers 31 Colts 27
NY has one of the best defensive fronts of any team in the league, but the Chiefs O-line can handle them. The Jets will show up, but KCs defense will show off.
Coin Flip: Kansas City
Prediction: Chiefs 37 Jets 20
Philly has victories over the Browns and the Bears, not exactly teams worth getting excited over. The Eagles have had their laughs, but this is more serious work and they're not likely to be up to the task.
Coin Flip: Pittsburgh
Prediction: Steelers 25 Eagles 10
In the absence of Tony Romo, the Cowboys may be one of the more surprising stories of the season. The Bears are just annoying and unfit. Who booked this game for Sunday night? Surely NBC could do betterŠ or, maybe not. At least a nationwide audience will get a good look at Dallas QB Dak Prescott, as will the Bears.
Coin Flip: Chicago
Prediction: Cowboys 23 Bears 10
Atlanta at New Orleans (-3, 53 1/2), 8:30 (ESPN) - Both teams pretty much suck, and neither is likely to make the playoffs this season, but Atlanta may have a more productive offense having shaken off their opening week loss to Tampa Bay with a surprising, 35-28, win at Oakland last week.
Coin Flip: Atlanta
Prediction: Falcons 31 Saints 24

WEEK 3 NFL Picks- late games
Los Angeles at Tampa Bay (-4 1/2, 42), 4:05 (FOX) - Here are two teams that have hopes for the post-season and are probably improving overall, so give it to Jameis Winston and the Bucs to improve after their disaster in Arizona last week, a 40-7 pounding.
San Diego at Indianapolis (-2 1/2, 51 1/2), 4:25 (CBS) - Hate to say it, but Andrew Luck has looked confused and frustrated in their first two games, losses to Detroit and Denver and hosting Phillip Rivers and the high-flying troops from San Diego is no easy remedy.
NY Jets at Kansas City (-3, 43 1/2), 4:25 (CBS) - Having departed Buffalo late Thursday night with a 37-31 victory, the Jets have had extra time for which to prepare for the Chiefs. They'll likely need it as KC players are none too happy about the 19-12 defeat they took at Houston last week.
Pittsburgh (-3 1/2, 46) at Philadelphia, 4:25 (CBS) - Both teams are 2-0, but the feeling is that the Steelers wins were of a higher quality, coming against two 2015 playoff teams, Washington and Cincinnati.
Chicago at Dallas (-7, 45), 8:30 (NBC) - Hard to think the Bears will be involved in many close games this season, especially against better teams, and the Cowboys are beginning to swagger a little after a one-point loss to the Giants and a rousing victory over Washington last week.
