Fearless Rick's NFL Football Picks - Week 7 late games
All times Eastern
San Diego at Atlanta (-6 1/2, 53) 4:05 pm (FOX) - Having beaten the Broncos last Thursday, the Chargers may have found a formula for success going forward, but they will be tested against the very game Falcons, who lost a close one in Seattle on Sunday.
The extra time off is probably a good thing for San Diego, but traveling across the country will have some effect. Atlanta has not lost at home this season. They're healthy and in sync on both sides of the ball. Don't look for much defense in this match-up, because the offenses are both explosive. Atlanta is probable for the win, but don't count on the cover. San Diego's losses have been by 6 (in OT), 4, 1, and 3 points.
Coin Flip: Atlanta
Prediction: Falcons 30 Chargers 27
Not to be put out, San Fran's defense is also pretty lousyŠ make that really lousy. At 30.8 ppg allowed, the 'Niners are 31st, ahead of only New Orleans. The Bucs aren't all that good, but good enough to register a win.
Coin Flip: Tampa Bay
Prediction: Buccaneers 27 49ers 20
Any second string QB having to face Tom Brady and the Patriots is going to be in a tough spot. The bright spot for the Steelers is that they're at home, giving them a slight edge in that regard, but it's really tough to take a stand against the Patriots with their #1 guy behind center.
Coin Flip: New England
Prediction: Patriots 28 Steelers 16
The Cardinals have fared well against the Seahawks in the past, but they seem to be still off their game. This one figures to be tight, and Seattle has the moxie to win close calls.
Coin Flip: Seattle
Prediction: Seahawks 23 Cardinals 20
Houston at Denver (-7, 41), 8:30 (ESPN) - Last Thursday, the Broncos were roundly throttled by divisional foe, San Diego. On Sunday, the Texans came from two TDs down late in the fourth quarter to eventually upend the Colts in overtime, 26-23, saving - for the time being - their season.
A road trip to Denver is always a test, if only for the high altitude environment. Houston is beginning to find its best stride, whereas the Broncos may be heading in the wrong direction. Having coach Kubiak back on the sideline will be a plus, but, aside from their exceptional defense, the Broncos may end up on the wrong side of the score again.
Coin Flip: Denver
Prediction: Texans 23 Broncos 21

WEEK 7 NFL Picks- late games
Tampa Bay (-2, 47) at San Francisco, 4:05 pm (FOX) - We've seem it all when the Buccaneers are road favorites, but it points up just how ineffective coach Chip Kelly's offense is against even average teams.
New England (-7, 46) at Pittsburgh, 4:25 pm (CBS) - What should have been a premium game is going to be a bit downgraded due to the absence of one Ben Roethlisberger for the Steelers.
Seattle at Arizona (-2 1/2, 43 1/2), 8:30 pm (NBC) - Showdown in the NFC West with the Seahawks at 4-1 and Arizona a disappointing 3-3, but, with a chance to make amends for earlier losses.
