Jacksonville at Tennessee (-3 1/2, 45 1/2), 8:25 pm (NFLN) - AFC South meaningless game except for fans of the two participants, though Titan fans may beg to differ as they are actually 3-4 on the season. Tennessee has a statistical advantage on both sides of the ball, home field, a better record, a maturing offense (17th in scoring, 23 points per game) and should win this one by a field goal, maybe more.
The two split last year's meetings, each winning at home, but the 42-39 victory by the Titans is hardly overwhelming.
Coin Flip: Jacksonville
Prediction: Titans 24 Jaguars 14
Washington vs. Cincinnati (-3, 47) at London, 9:30 am (FOX) - Seriously, another game in England? When will the NFL, in its infinite wisdom, begin scheduling games in countries around the world, like Brazil, Japan, China, North Korea? Maybe that last one isn't quite on the to do list, but the point is that excessive travel and foreign venues weaken the game overall due to the strain on players, the unusual game times and various cultural vicissitudes.
Upside for this game is that the Bengals are once again in the competitive mix in the AFC East, thanks to upending the Browns last week, but that's not saying much. In any case, the Bengals have already completed the toughest part of its schedule and now catches the Redskins after a road loss (at Detroit, 20-17) and what is essentially another road game. Advantage Cincy, a better team than their record indicates and a better team than Washington, generally.
Coin Flip: Washington
Prediction: Bengals 27 Redskins 14
The Packers bounced back from their home loss to Dallas by whipping up on the Bears last week. That's not cause for celebration. At 4-2, Green Bay is coming off four straight home games, winning three of them. They're 1-1 on the road. Atlanta's 1-2 at home, but they should be better than that.
Coin Flip: Atlanta
Prediction: Falcons 30 Packers 24
New England can pad its lead in the AFC East and send Buffalo back to a 4-4 mark.
Coin Flip: New England
Prediction: Patriots 31 Bills 17
Supposed to have a good defense, the Jetsd are allowing 25.7 points per game. That's a plus for the home underdog Browns.
Coin Flip: Cleveland
Prediction: Browns 23 Jets 21
Meanwhile, the Lions won at home last week, 20-17, over Washington and improved to 4-3. They're in the mix in the NFC North and should be well-prepared for this one, which shapes up as a key game for both squads. Matthew Stafford has thrown for over 250 yards in five of seven outings this year. Stats say the Texans can't score. They're 31st in points scored (16.7 per game), while the Lions are 11th (24.3). Houston also can't stop the run, as proven by Denver.
Coin Flip: Detroit
Prediction: Lions 24 Texans 14
Another setback for the Colts is in store here. Indy hasn't won two in a row this season and that trend is set to continue.
Coin Flip: Kansas City
Prediction: Chiefs 26 Colts 20
The Saints may take more chances against Seattle's top-shelf defense, which may result in more turnovers. In other words, Drew Brees may easily throw for 300 yards, but he also will be picked off two or three times. The Seahawks just keep finding ways to win (or tie) games.
Coin Flip: Seattle
Prediction: Seahawks 27 Saints 20
While the Buccaneers are continuing to improve, their defense is not really up to the onslaught which Oakland brings to the field offensively. Oakland's defense is nothing to write home about either, but their offense should lead the way to another road win.
Coin Flip: Oakland
Prediction: Raiders 38 Buccaneers 27

WEEK 8 NFL Picks
Cumulative: Coin: 38-53-2; Rick: 49-42-2
Sunday, October 30
Green Bay at Atlanta (-2 1/2, 52 1/2), 1:00 pm (FOX) - Both teams have had their ups and downs this season, but the Falcons have no excuse for blowing the big lead to the Chargers last week and losing in overtime, except for the fact that Phillip Rivers is one of the best passers and offensive minds of our generation.
New England (-5 1/2, 47 1/2) at Buffalo, 1:00 pm (CBS) - Offensively, the Bills are one banged-up bunch, with multiple starters out via injury and they find themselves extremely short-handed against their main divisional rival. Buffalo took advantage of Tom Brady's absence in week three. Now it's Brady's turn to return the favor against a depleted Buffalo lineup. Brady will still have to deal with a generally healthy Bills' defense, but that shouldn't pose a problem for the experienced pro.
NY Jets (-2 1/2, 44) at Cleveland, 1:00 pm (CBS) - Simply put, the Jets are a team that Cleveland can beat. whether they will or not remains to be seen, but the 0-7 Browns can't do much worse.
Detroit at Houston (-2 1/2, 45), 1:00 pm (FOX) - Houston was decimated in Denver Monday night and needs to clean up the turnover issues before they're be considered a playoff contender.
Kansas City (-2 1/2, 49 1/2) at Indianapolis, 1:00 pm (CBS) - Indy's offense is finally clicking, but the defense is still shaky. If the Chiefs can score a couple of offensive touchdowns (they'll probably hit the end zone three or four times here), their stout defense should handle the rest.
Seattle (-3, 47 1/2) at New Orleans, 1:00 pm (FOX) - After the silly 6-6 tie with Arizona, in which the Seahawk defense bailed out the hobbled offense, the Saints have to be interested, though their 2-4 record indicates that they aren't exactly a playoff pick at this time.
Oakland at Tampa Bay (-1 1/2, 49), 1:00 pm (CBS) - The Raiders are on a serious role and are one of a handful of teams that no other NFL squad really wants to play. Derek Carr is the modern-day reincarnation of Darryl Lamonica, a gunslinger and hardline risk-taker.
