First SI cover for USC Trojans' running back MARCUS ALLENas he rumbles through the Oklahoma defense. Later in the year, Allen would become the first collegiate running back to rush for 2000 yards in a season and also win the Heisman Trophy. Great story inside on the Sooners-Trojans matchup, won by Southern Cal, 28-24, as Oklahoma turned the ball over 5 times on fumbles. Allen rushed for 208 yards and 2 TDs in the game.
