3:30 pm #2 Alabama (-19 1/2, 56) at Auburn (CBS) - There have been a number of occasions this season in which the Crimson Tide appeared vulnerable, the latest being last week's 42-35 home win over Arkansas. Two weeks prior, the Tide struggled to win over LSU, 20-14.
Of course, Alabama has that one sore spot, the 41-38 loss at Texas A&M, but in 'Bama's favor are Auburn's last three games, all losses and the loss of QB Bo Nix, out for the remainder of the season. Auburn will have to rely heavily on their defense, which is a real problem. Alabama could easily benefit from multiple turnovers in this non-contest. Sophomore TJ Finley starts at QB for the Tigers.
Coin Flip: Alabama
Prediction: Crimson Tide 42 Tigers 13
If the Beavers pull off the upset, they get to play Utah in the conference championship next week, rather then the Ducks, so this could be an exciting, close encounter, especially since the Beavers have not lost at home this season. That's a lot to chew on.
Coin Flip: Oregon
Prediction: Beavers 30 Ducks 20
The Nittany Lions are this season's tough luck team. At 7-4, they lost to Ohio State by nine points, to Michigan by four, to Iowa by three, and in nine overtimes, to Illinois by two.
Michigan State has had a nice run to 9-2, their secondary failing badly in losses to Purdue and Ohio State.
Coin Flip: Michigan State
Prediction: Nittany Lions 31 Spartans 17
The winner of this annual contest receives the Paul Bunyan's Axe, a tradition begun in 1948. This is also the most-played rivalry in the nation, with a 130-game history.
The Gophers didn't play any of the conference heavyweights other than Ohio State, losing, 45-31, in the season opener, their other meeting with a ranked foe was a 27-22 loss at Iowa. This should be a competitive game with Wisconsin prevailing.
Coin Flip: Wisconsin
Prediction: Badgers 23 Golden Gophers 19
Some of Oklahoma's offensive problems are due to the situation at QB. Caleb Williams has taken the lead at the position over Spencer Rattler, but the rest of the offense seems confused and hesitant regardless of who is behind center. With this game in the Cowboys' yard, Oklahoma will be out of next week's championship game with a loss.
Coin Flip: Oklahoma
Prediction: Cowboys 31 Sooners 21
The last time the Gamecocks won this annual contest (didn't happen last year due to COVID) was 2013, when they topped the #6 Tigers, 31-17. The Gamecocks were 11-2 that year.
As SC has improved over the course of the season, so too the Tigers. winners of four straight and with a shot at the ACC championship should Wake Forest falter at BC this weekend. The Tigers have put up 152 points their last four games. Clemson should win going away, especially if Wake Forest loses to East Carolina earlier.
Coin Flip: South Carolina
Prediction: Tigers 37 Gamecocks 20
Notre Dame has steamrolled their last three opponents, whipping Navy, 34-6, Virginia, 28-3, and Georgia Tech, 55-0. Even though they're not at home, the Irish should blow this one open early.
The set-up for the Irish is actually favorable. Georgia and Alabama will likely meet in the SEC championship next week. A Georgia win gives Alabama two losses. Even with a loss, Georgia looks like a lock, so the likelihood of ND making the playoffs under that circumstance looks slim. Ohio State has to beat Michigan and probably Wisconsin next week in the Big Ten championship.
Cincinnati, the Irish's only loss, plays East Carolina on Friday, a game the Bearcats should win. Even if they lose, they'll play 10-1 Houston for the AAC championship, not a lock. There's a good possibility that Notre Dame could be propelled to #4 with an Alabama loss next week and an Ohio State win over Michigan this week. Looking ahead, the Irish should make the final four.
Coin Flip: Stanford
Prediction: Fighting Irish 45 Cardinal 10

3:30 pm Oregon State at #11 Oregon (-7, 61) (ESPN) - The Ducks finally met their PAC-10 match when they were dunked by Utah last week, 38-7, but they get the benefit of home field for the annual rivalry game against the Beavers, who count among their seven wins (4 losses) a 42-34 win over the Utes back in October.
3:30 pm Penn State (-1, 52) at #12 Michigan State (ABC) - Both teams will be headed to bowl games next month. Penn State had 35 players unavailable for their 28-0 shutout of Rutgers last week due to flu, but most - including starting QB Sean Clifford - will return here.
4:00 pm #14 Wisconsin (-7, 39) at Minnesota (FOX) - One thing you never want to do is corner a wounded Badger. Wisconsin makes the case this season. After losing to Penn State, Notre Dame and Michigan in their first four games, the Badgers have ripped off seven straight wins. A victory here puts them in the Big Ten championship against either Ohio State or Michigan.
7:30 pm #10 Oklahoma at #7 Oklahoma State (-4, 50) (ABC) - What the Sooners must avoid is an early Oklahoma State lead, as the Cowboys' defense has allowed just 23 points over its last four games. They are geared up to stuff the Sooners, who have been experiencing problems on offense.
7:30 pm #23 Clemson (-11 1/2, 43) at South Carolina - South Carolina achieved bowl eligibility with last week's 21-17 win over Auburn, getting the Gamecocks to 6-5. Since Jason Brown took over at QB for SC, they're 2-2, and this is a big rivalry.
8:00 pm #6 Notre Dame (-19, 52 1/2) at Stanford (FOX) - The main claim to fame for the Cardinal is their 31-24 OT win over Oregon back in early October. Besides that, they are just another 3-8 team set up for a squashing by the Fighting Irish, still with hope of making the final four with just one loss to Cincinnati.
