New England Patriots at LA Chargers (-5 1/2, 49) 4:05 pm - The Chargers had a bye last week, while the Patriots were doing a tap dance on the NY Jets in a 54-13 blowout. While the Chargers are playing at a high level, the Patriots have yet to be beaten badly, other than their 28-13 loss to the Saints at the end of September.
Since then, the Pats have beaten Houston and the Jets, and lost narrowly to Tampa Bay (19-17) and in overtime to the Cowboys (35-29). It would not surprise anybody to see the Patriots upend the Chargers and get back to .500.
Coin Flip: New England
Prediction: Patriots 29 Chargers 27
Any wonder why they're only three point underdogs? Trevor Lawrence has six games under his belt and surely wants to start winning some games.
Coin Flip: Seattle
Prediction: Jaguars 25 Seahawks 20
Denver really doesn't have a running game, which will be a plus for Washington. Their defense isn't very good, but coming off three straight losses themselves, to the Saints, Chiefs, and Packers, playing at Denver may be a relief. Denver may win a squeaker.
Coin Flip: Washington
Prediction: Broncos 24 Football Team 23
With the Bucs at 6-1 and the Saints 4-2, this is a huge divisional meeting. Jameis Winston seems to have settled into his role as NO starter, and the Saints' defense is top notch, allowing 16.8 points per game, third best in the league. At home, the Saints should make a game of it and possibly pull off the upset.
Coin Flip: Tampa Bay
Prediction: Buccaneers 26 Saints 24
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 5-1 and all alone atop the NFC East. The other three teams in their division are all 2-5, so they have a cushion. May they be getting a little complacent? Probably not, though a number of players may not think this game is vital to their success.
Minnesota makes this a tough call as their three losses have been by three points at Cincinnati in overtime, a 34-33 loss at Arizona, and a 14-7 loss to Cleveland. They're game.
Coin Flip: Dallas
Prediction: Vikings 30 Cowboys 27
NY Giants at Kansas City Chiefs (-10, 52) 8:15 pm - Reeling after their most recent a true battering at the hands of the Tennessee Titans, 27-3, Kansas City looks to make amends over a supposedly inferior opponent by the visiting NY Giants.
While the Chiefs lost to quality teams - Ravens, Chargers, Bills, Titans - they still lost, and now find themselves tied for last place in the AFC West with Denver, at 3-4. One would like to believe that they'll handle the Giants with ease, but New York is coming off a huge, 25-3 win over Carolina, in which the defense was spectacular, holding the Panthers to just 173 total yards. That's just not normal. KC may win this one, but it won't be because the Giants defense was sleeping.
Coin Flip: NY Giants
Prediction: Chiefs 23 Giants 18

Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks (-3, 43 1/2) 4:05 pm - The Seahawks are doing just enough to lose close games since QB Russell Wilson went down three weeks ago. Here's another one for them. The Jaguars defeated the Dolphins in London, 23-20, two weeks ago, took a bye last week and appear poised to make at least a little noise, now that they've ended their 20-game losing streak.
Washington Football Team at Denver Broncos (-3, 43 1/2) 4:25 pm - Coming off a bye week and with the Football Team on the road a second straight week, one might consider this a no-brainer. However, Denver started the season 3-0, but the losses are now piling up. They lost their fourth straight last week on Thursday night, falling, 17-14, to the Browns.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5, 50) at New Orleans Saints 4:25 pm - Nobody's beating the Bucs any more this season. That seemed to be the message sent the past couple of weeks, as Tampa Bay tore up Chicago, 38-3 and now have won four straight. It's not just Tom Brady, though he's a huge part of their success, but the defense is really beginning to come around for the reigning champs.
Dallas Cowboys (-2 1/2, 55) at Minnesota Vikings 8:20 pm - Dallas is a real football team. The Vikings look kind of like a professional team, though not quite, lacking a method for winning games. They are 3-3 and really need a win.
